Etsuro Urushi
The Etsuro MC cartridge series was jointly developed by Mr. Masao Okada, CEO/CTO of Excel Sound Co., Ltd., which has more than half a century of experience in manufacturing MC cartridges, and Mr. Etsuro Akiyama of Dai-Ichi Shoji Co. Ltd., which has been exporting audio equipment, including phonograph cartridges and electronic measuring instruments since the 1970s. The two companies began manufacturing the Etsuro MC cartridge series to aspire to the highest Japanese quality, which has never existed in the past, and to challenge high-end audiophiles around the world with this work of art.
President Okada of Excel Sound created the Etsuro model by focusing on the high fidelity characteristic of the sound that is transferred from the groove of the disc to the audio equipment while it is a low performance MC cartridge. With this feature, the cartridge is able to extract natural sounds from the disc with transparency in all sound ranges. You can enjoy the reality of multiple environments, ranging from an orchestra playing classical western music to a piano, vocals, a brass band, indoor music and a symphony played by an orchestra in a concert hall.

MC step-up transformer
The central part of the transformer is installed with a 78% permalloy core “EX Type” which has an excellent inductance property, creating a wide performance range. Also, the protective case chose to use the same material to aim at decreasing the noise components. The “damping material, Sorbothane”, which has high vibration absorption characteristics, located on the transformer support, works effectively to improve sound distortions.
Each part is hand lacquered by traditional craftsmen creating an artistic work of art.
